Do fitness tracking apps really help the athlete with progression towards being their best selves. I believe that fitness tracking apps are not the best thing for athletes.
Fitness apps fail to motivate users and it’ easy to get bored very easily compared to writing down your daily workouts or even eating.
Fitness tracking apps may also not know what they are talking about all the time and could possibly be giving you misinformation. You never know exactly who made these apps and whether they actually know what they are talking about and have tested these methods on people before putting it on an app for everyone to possibly use and follow.
Lastly, it is easy to cheat your workouts while using these apps. Apps don’t hold you accountable for not doing something right or doing the right amount of reps and weight. Having someone workout with you or just keep you accountable is way better than relying on an app to keep you accountable. An app you can not open and just push to the side.
Athletes shouldn’t need to use fitness tracking apps because it makes them feel as if they need to be a certain weight or figure to play well. Personally, it should be whether an athlete feels comfortable playing. You just have to listen to what your body is telling you.
