The Griffins completed a sweep in their season finale to finish the 2025 campaign with the team’s highest win total in 15 years.
The first game started off rough for the Griffins, as Gwynedd Mercy scored six runs in the first inning. But the identity of this team held true, as they battled all the way back to claim an 12-11 victory.
The Griffins scored seven runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. Anastasia Watson tripled to center field to drive in Camille Dunham to put CHC up, 7-6. Watson then scored on Izabella Rodriguez’s single.
Gwynedd Mercy scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the score at 10. Dunham and Rodriguez each drove in a run for the Griffins in the top of the eighth inning and Michelle Baker got the win. Baker pitched the last 2 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits.
Christina Contreras and Kayla Rolon each had three hits and scored two runs in the game. Watson had two triples and two RBIs. Rodriguez added three key RBIs.
Game 2 was another high scoring contest, with CHC winning, 11-10.
It was a more ideal start for the Griffins, rattling off three quick runs in the first inning. However, the flipside of the inning saw the Griffins give two runs right back, setting up another close game.
CHC scored five runs in the third and three in the fourth inning to propel them to victory.
Watson hit a two-run home run and tripled. Rolon had three hits, including a triple.
This season, seniors Watson (.381) and Rolon (.378) led the Griffins in batting average. Junior catcher Jazmine Ramirez hit .375, and sophomore Jen Pokropinski and first-year Alauna Kelley also ended the year above .300.
Watson was the team leader in hits (45), home runs (3), and RBIs (26). Rodriguez had 25 RBIs.
It was an up and down year for the CHC softball team, which finished 16-28-1 overall. The Griffins were 7-15 in the CACC conference and were playoff hopefuls for much of the season.
