Robert Channing, better known as the “mentalist,” read minds and predicated futures in the Gruber Theatre on Jan. 18.
Channing started the show by pulling two audience members out as helpers. They aid him in unlocking his sixth sense known as ESP or enhanced sensory perception by covering his face with six pieces of duct tape, two half dollars, and a blindfold.
This is when the real show began. Channing requested his two audience members to get items from members in the crowd. They brought them back to the stage and with perfect accuracy, Channing described the items.
On a roll, Channing asked for a member of the audience to bring out a bill. The bill’s chosen by an audience helper and brought on stage. Without missing a beat, Channing recited the serial number of the bill.
At that point, Channing requested all members of the audience answer the following prompts on an index card: Funniest moment of your life, your favorite number, something you want to ask him, and your name and nickname if applicable.
The cards were collected and brought on the stage for the best part of the show. Taking the cards out at random, Channing’s psychic connection reached new heights. He answered the questions on the cards and provided insight into futures — from having eight children, marrying rich, and inheriting $10,000 in the next two weeks.
Channing used his quick wit throughout to keep the audience members on the edge of their seats. He is a must see event wherever you can find him.
