Beginning this past April, a select few classes at CHC have been held at the Sugar Loaf Campus. According to the Registrar, there are 353 students spread out over 31 courses as of the 14th of September. The change came after CHC invited students and staff of Our Mother of Consolation School to have classes here, because of the fire that happened at their school in March.
The new scenery and unique circumstances surrounding the move would lead to varying opinions as all abrupt changes do. A small collection of interviews from earlier this September of some students at Sugar Loaf brought a mix of reactions, but none of them all that frustrated by the situation.
Freshman student Ateef had a fairly mixed response to the situation-
-Do you mind the distance between Sugarloaf and the main campus?
Ateef: I wish it was closer like walking distance is preferable.
-Have the Sugar Loaf classrooms lived up to your expectations?
Ateef: I like it
Is a class being at Sugar Loaf alter your opinion on taking that class
Ateef: Yeah
Freshman Manuel had an ambivalent reaction to most of the questions-
-Do you mind the distance between Sugarloaf and the main campus?
Manuel: No
-Have the Sugar Loaf classrooms lived up to your expectations?
Manuel: Yeah
-Is a class being at Sugar Loaf alter your opinion on taking that class
Manuel: No
Senior Nicole saw little issue with taking classes at the Chateau
-Do you mind the distance between Sugarloaf and the main campus?
Nicole: No, but I drive
-Have the Sugar Loaf classrooms lived up to your expectations?
Nicole: Yeah, they have air conditioning
-Is a class being at Sugar Loaf alter your opinion on taking that class?
Nicole: No
Freshman Mariah had a mixed reaction like Ateef
-Do you mind the distance between Sugarloaf and the main campus?
Mariah: *Nodded yes jovially*
-Have the Sugar Loaf classrooms lived up to your expectations?
Mariah: Yeah, its okay
-Is a class being at Sugar Loaf alter your opinion on taking that class?
Mariah: Yeah
For students curious about when to catch a shuttle to Sugar Loaf, confirmed through Director of Communication Chris Spangler, shuttles run 9 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday, stopping at the Sugar Loaf Gazebo, the Logue Library, and Chestnut Hill East and Chestnut Hill West. For students unfamiliar with how to walk to Sugar Loaf, the pedestrian bridge alongside Germantown Ave leads to a trail that ends at the driveway of the area. The Chateau is the last building at the top of the hill, past the gazebo.
