55\u201353 on a last second field goal to Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday night in Sorgenti Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"2e93\">The Griffins fall to a 10\u20134 record in conference play and 16\u20138 overall. The Lighting improved to a 5\u20139 in conference record and 6\u201320 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"11e6\">Bridie Mccan led all scorers with 20 points, including three much needed 3-pointers in the fourth. Kaitlyn Carter provided a strong defensive performance with four blocks, and two steals, and Emily Sekerak added 10 points on an efficient 71% from the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"67ff\">Chestnut Hill led at half, but a slow offensive start in the second caused them to fall behind, and despite a strong 4th quarter performance the Griffins ultimately fell short on a last second layup by Goldey-Beacom\u2019s Julie McCarron, leaving 0.9 left on the clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"dc9c\">A defensive battle, both teams shot under 40%, and combined for 33 turnovers. The Griffins defensive presence was evident as they led in all defensive categories. Forcing 20 turnovers and 7 blocks, including 19 points off turnovers and 9 second chance points, but despite these defensive efforts the Lighting was able to hold the Griffins to 31% from the field, and shot a perfect 100% from the free throw line, which was superior to the Griffins 62.5% shooting from the charity stripe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"9dca\">\u201cWe picked up our energy a lot, and I felt like that was noticeable on the court as well, we just have to capitalize on our other quarters.\u201d Said Griffins guard Bridie Mcann following the Griffins 4th quarter push led by McCan\u2019s 3\u20133 shooting from behind the arch, and 8\u201315 shooting from the field as a team \u201cOur defense wasn\u2019t an issue tonight, it was finishing as a whole, we missed a lot of layups which could\u2019ve changed the game around as a whole.\u201d Said Mcann in preparation for the Griffins next game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"cc07\">The Griffins\u2019 next game is their final home game against Holy Family University on Saturday February 24th.
